How to Create and Manage Tags

Published:

Tags help you organize and categorize your contacts inside the CRM. They allow you to label contacts based on behavior, status, interests, campaigns, or any custom grouping you need.

For example, you can tag contacts as:

  • Sales

  • Webinar Attendee

  • Trial User

  • VIP

  • Inactive 60 Days

Tags make it easier to filter contacts, build segments, and send targeted campaigns.

What Is a Tag?

A tag is a simple label that you attach to a contact.

Unlike segments, tags do not automatically group contacts by rules. Instead, they act as identifiers that help you quickly classify and filter contacts.

You can assign multiple tags to a single contact.

For example, one contact can have:
Sales + Webinar Attendee + Pro Plan

This gives you flexibility when organizing your audience.

How to Create a New Tag

Step 1: Navigate to the Tags Section

Go to: 'CRM' → 'Tags'. Click the '+ Create Tag' button.

Your tag is now saved and ready to be assigned to contacts.

Step 3: Managing Tags

On the Tags Page, you will see a list of all created tags. For each tag, you will have the options 'View Contacts', 'Edit', or 'Delete'. Make changes whenever needed.

How to Use Tags

After creating a tag, you can assign it to contacts in two ways:

  1. While adding or editing a contact.

  2. During contact import (via CSV).

Tags provide a flexible way to organize and classify your contacts. By creating meaningful tags and using them consistently, you can improve contact organization, simplify filtering, and create more targeted campaigns. Proper tag management keeps your CRM clean, structured, and easy to navigate.
